The mission of C-MAPS is to use UAV generated maps and satellite imagery to push the boundaries of what teams working in the coastal zone can achieve from aquaculture, marine debris, and habitat monitoring to hazard assessments.
Hi! My name is Katie Taladay (...and that is my field assistant Piko). I’m a PhD graduate student/researcher in the Honolulu area, dedicated to exploring and studying the physical and biogeochemical processes underlying the natural world. Current Research Projects
We have an enormous ecological tragedy on our hands with marine debris. UAVs and aerial photography can help us to efficiently assess where and how much marine debris is on a beach. ML algorithms are applied for detection and may help us to quantify the problem spatially and temporally.
